Westlund scores Farm Bureau, OLCV endorsements

The Oregon Farm Bureau and the Oregon League of Conservation Voters have something in common, according to Sen. Ben Westlund's campaign: Both have endorsed the Bend Democrat for state treasurer.

Westlund is the only Democratic candidate for treasurer, while Lake Oswego businessman Allen Alley is the only Republican candidate.

Farm Bureau president Barry Bushue said Westlund knows how to get things done in Salem and is known for building consensus. "Ben has run a successful agricultural business. He understands the challenges Oregon's farms face," Bushue said in a statement released by Westlund's campaign. "He has been a strong advocate for our issues for over a decade."

"He's a creative leader who understands that conservation is the core of our quality of life and sees its economic and health benefits as well," OLCV executive director Jonathan Poisner said of Westlund in the campaign's statement.
